Macedonia Legalizes Medical Cannabis
After six months of deliberation, Macedonia have finally made the step to legalize medical cannabis across the nation.
Last week, the Health Minister of Macedonia Nikola Todoruv announced the plans and stated that medical cannabis ‘extracts’ will be widely available in pharmacies across the country by the end of May.
Those patients who will be eligible for medical cannabis access are people who are “suffering from serious illnesses, such as malignant diseases, multiple sclerosis, HIV and childhood epilepsy”.
The news comes almost half a year after initial plans were announced to legalize medical cannabis. At the time, the plans were met with public division. However, new data has shown that 70% of Macedonian’s favour the decision.
Macedonia becomes the 14th country in the European Union to legalize some form of cannabis for medical use.
